ERP charges at Upper Bukit Timah and at two MCE exits removed during peak periods
LTA announced that it is removing ERP rates during peak periods for three gantries , effective 18 February 2019.
The three gantries are:
1. MCE westbound before exit to Maxwell Road, where the ERP currently charges $1.00 from 7.30am-8.00am
2. MCE Westbound exit to Marina Coastal Drive, where the ERP currently charges $0.50-1.00 from 7.30am-8.00am
3. Upper Bukit Timah Road Southbound After Hume Avenue, where the ERP currently charges $0.50-1.00 from 8.00am-8.30am
ERP rates will be reviewed again in May 2019.
In 2015, ERP revenue amounted to S$150 million.
In 2016, LTA tendered a S$556 million contract to a consortium comprising NCS and MHI Engine System Asia to develop ERP 2.0.
The new ERP system will use satellite technology and enables authorities to implement distance-based fees.
The new system will be progressively rolled out from 2020.
LTA said there will be a transition period lasting 18 months where both old and new ERP systems co-exist.
